Pet Transfusion Therapy
Blood transfusions are frequently used to treat acute or chronic anemias, as well as acute hemolysis or bleeding. Whole blood, red cells, plasma, or platelets must frequently be transfused into animals suffering from hemostatic diseases. Blood transfusions must be administered with caution because they can worsen the recipient’s condition.
